UPDATE ON AAAC MELROSE & BOOLEROO WEEKEND AWAY

Entry to the Booleroo Steam & Traction Rally is by pre-booking online only.

Tentative Program
Friday 25th - Meet 10.00am alongside the Main North Road (on left hand side just after the corner Curtis &
Main North Roads).Drive to Melrose, having stops enroute and lunch at Clare. Then base ourselves at Melrose.
Evening meal to be decided on arrival.
Saturday 26th - A nice drive toWilmington for morning tea with options to visit the Toy, Puppet or Heritage
Museums (both should be open but you may have to phone to let them know you are outside), then drive
through Horrocks Pass to the main highway and down to Port Germein for lunch (fish & chips or BYO) and a
look around. Then return to Melrose via Port Germein Gorge (approx 140 kms return).

A nice drive to Wilmington for morning tea with options to visit the Toy, Puppet or Heritage Museums, then
drive on to Quorn for lunch. Have a look around Quorn and district. Returning the way we came (approx 130
kms return).
The evening meal has been booked for 5.30pm meet at the Mount Remarkable Hotel. Meals served from 6pm.
Sunday 27th - Booleroo Steam & Traction Rally. There is the option to drive to Wirrabara first to view the
silo art. It is reasonably new and is best viewed in the morning.
The rally is going ahead but it is still subject to any covid restrictions. At this stage just mask wearing in certain
areas and social distancing. We will be allocated a space on the oval to put our cars on static display - they
have just installed a new sprinkler system on the oval and are not sure about the parade for other entrants.
The program will be as close as possible to normal and there will be craft stalls and the like inside the big shed.
Entry fee $15. Catering is available if you don’t want to take lunch. There will be more information as it comes
to hand.
Evening meal to be decided.There is a basic camp kitchen at the caravan park.
Monday 28th - A leisurely return home. If we don’t take the option to view theWirrabara silo art on Sunday
we can do it on the Monday on our way home.
Please Note:
We have booked the Saturday evening meal for 20 people and have reached that number already. If you haven’t
let the Club Captain know you are intending to go please do so as soon as possible and we will adjust the
numbers accordingly.
As some members are extending the weekend and arriving the day before please also let us know if you will
be travelling independantly, otherwise we could be waiting for you.
