TWILIGHT RUN TO GLENTHORNE FARM

Meet at club rooms 4:45pm for 5:00pm start
Participants will follow the coast for short distance before our destination on O’Halloran Hill.
Modern electric BBQ’s under shelter are available or you can make a stop to collect takeaway at the Seaview Chicken & Fish shop on Seaview Road. Just slight detour around 5 minutes from our destination. This will be advised on the run sheet.

The Glenthorne Farm property has historical significance for South Australia, with the state's first police commissioner, Major Thomas Shuldham O'Halloran, establishing a farm there in 1839. It contains the remains of buildings from the 1850s. It has since been used as a farm, a training ground for military horses in WWI, and a research facility with the CSIRO from 1949 and then granted to the University of Adelaide for agriculture studies.
The property was then purchased from the University for $1.10 in 2019 and then Protected under the National Parks and wildlife Act 1972 to save it from housing development.
The Park was opened to the public for the first time on 30 July 2023.
