Old Car Day 2014
Old Cars Day 2014
Old Cars Day Run to the Bethany Reserve, where a group of clubs displayed 100 vehicles. We joined the Gawler Veteran, Vintage, and Classic car clubs venue, and placed our old cars on show.
The day for us was not kind, as it was raining before we left home and rained several times on the way there. For two of those times it was quite heavy, so we wondered how many others would brave this sort of weather and bring their cars out. While at the Bethany Reserve there was one light shower near opening time, but that did not last long at all. For the rest of the day it got better, and included the sun shining for most of the later afternoon.
The Bethany venue is always scenic, and has excellent onsite amenities, it is a good choice for this type of function. The large shelter hut was popular, as was the gathering around the fire place.
We found ourselves in a big open front marque, and sharing a lunch table.
One Very well attended car club came all the way from Strathalbyn, and certainly helped boost car numbers for the day.
As always there were some interesting vehicles on show, so many have been restored, to a very high standard, and they attract constant attention wherever they go.
The AAA Automobile Club members would like to thank the Gawler Veteran, Vintage, and Classic Car Club for their invitation to this venue. Our club has members widely spread all over Adelaide, so as we travel the many different roads our old cars are being sighted. We support the Idea, and the spirit of exposing those cars to the public on Old Cars Day.
One of the organisers of Old Cars Day here, Alvin Jenkin came around to ask people which club they were from, so we were able to thank him for a job well done.
For us it was another good day that we have enjoyed with our vintage cars.
